Privacy policy

How we handle your data – explained clearly.

This is a translation for convenience. The German privacy policy is authoritative.

1. Controller

[BITTE ERGÄNZEN: company name]
Teststrasse [BITTE ERGÄNZEN: Hausnummer], [BITTE ERGÄNZEN: PLZ und Ort]
Email: office@af-motors.net

2. General

We only process personal data where necessary for this website, for answering your enquiries or for legal obligations – in line with the GDPR and the Austrian Data Protection Act. We use no advertising tools and no Google Analytics and load fonts locally from our own server. For simple visitor statistics we use our own privacy-friendly counting method on our server (see section 5).

3. Hosting and server log files

The website is hosted by easyname GmbH (Austria). When you visit, technically necessary data is processed (IP address, date and time, page requested, browser type, operating system, referrer) to ensure secure and stable operation (legitimate interest, Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Log files are deleted by the host after a short period. A data processing agreement is in place with the host.

4. Contact form, appointment request and email

If you contact us via the form, the appointment request or by email, we process your details (e.g. name, email, phone, vehicle, preferred date, message and any photos you choose to upload) to handle and answer your enquiry (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR – pre-contractual measures, or (f) – legitimate interest). Form data is sent to us by email and stored for appointment planning in a password-protected admin area on our web server (easyname GmbH, Austria); for uploaded photos we automatically remove embedded extra data such as the location (GPS) when saving; entries including photos are deleted automatically after 24 months at the latest, or earlier on request. If a contract results, statutory retention periods apply (e.g. 7 years under § 132 BAO).

5. Visitor statistics and cookies

Without consent (no cookies): To see how many people visit our website and which pages are helpful, we count page views with our own method directly on our web server (easyname GmbH, Austria) – no data is passed to third parties and no cookies are set. We record the page viewed, the referring website (e.g. Google), device type, operating system, browser and time. Your IP address is only used briefly to determine your approximate country, region and town via a locally stored database (DB-IP, no third-party request) and is then not stored. To group several page views on the same day into one visit, an encrypted check value (hash) is created from your IP address and browser identifier together with a random value that changes daily; it does not identify you and can no longer be linked the next day. Only aggregated daily totals are stored. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in designing the website according to visitors' needs (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). You can object at any time by enabling "Do Not Track" or "Global Privacy Control" in your browser – we will then not count you.

With consent (cookie "afm_vid"): If you choose "Allow statistics" in the notice, we store a random identifier in a cookie (name: afm_vid, duration 13 months) plus your choice (afm_consent, 13 months). This lets us also see whether someone returns, how long a page is read and which screen size is used. The legal basis is your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR, § 165(3) Austrian TKG 2021). You can withdraw it at any time via the "Cookie settings" link (also at the bottom of every page); the cookies are then deleted. If you choose "Necessary only", only your choice is stored (technically necessary).

Statistics data is deleted automatically after 25 months at the latest. The password-protected admin area for the operator also uses a technically necessary session cookie.

6. Google Maps (only after a click)

On the contact page you can display a Google Maps map (provider: Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland). The map is only loaded when you click “Load map”. Your IP address and browser information are then transmitted to Google; transfers to the USA may occur (Google is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework). The legal basis is your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR), which you give by clicking and can end at any time by reloading the page.

7. Links to Instagram and WhatsApp

We link to our Instagram profile and to WhatsApp. These are simple links – data is only transferred when you click one and open Instagram or WhatsApp (both: Meta Platforms Ireland Ltd.). If you message us via WhatsApp, WhatsApp processes your phone number and messages under its own privacy policy; we only use your message to answer your enquiry (Art. 6(1)(b) or (f) GDPR). If you prefer, you can always reach us by phone, email or the contact form.

8. Your rights

You have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and objection, and to withdraw consent at any time. Write to office@af-motors.net. You can lodge a complaint with the Austrian Data Protection Authority (Barichgasse 40–42, 1030 Vienna, www.dsb.gv.at).
